Personnel Changes
I want to share several significant staff changes that occurred after last night's Board meeting, Feb. 18, 2016. We are excited to announce the following new assignments for the 2016-2017 school year:
For our Alternative Education program, David Naranjo was selected as our newest principal. Currently, Mr. Naranjo is the principal at Woodland Elementary where he is known as an innovative, caring leader. With Mr. Jensen retiring at the end of the school year, Mr. Naranjo will play a key role in the continued revitalization and development of educational programs under the umbrella of Alternative Education, which include: Adult School, County-Community School, Continuation High School, and Independent Study Homeschool programs. In addition, Mr. Naranjo will play a role in our development of a proactive Student Services department, working collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and our community members to coordinate services and resources for our stakeholders. We are excited to have Mr. Naranjo take on this leadership position, as his role is vital to our reinvestment in our Alternative Education students and Student Services department.
Ron Henderson has been promoted from Principal at Lake Don Pedro Elementary (and Interim Special Projects Coordinator) to Director of Educational Technology and Special Projects. With the departure of Director Ron Johnson, who will be leaving MCUSD following his resignation at the end of the school year, Mr. Henderson will be instrumental in continuing the charge forward in leading staff, students, and our community into the 21st century. Mr. Henderson will also be tasked with managing our Special Projects department, working closely with sites to provide support and resources through state and federal categorical programs and grants. Mr. Henderson is a highly regarded educator and has a passion for using technology to empower students and staff in our classrooms. We are excited to have Mr. Henderson in this position, as we continue to make investments that support students and staff in becoming “future ready.”
The Work Ahead…..
In the upcoming weeks we will select a replacement for the Woodland Elementary principal position vacated by Mr. Naranjo, as well as Mr. Henderson’s principal position at Lake Don Pedro Elementary. Additionally, we will be selecting an administrative replacement for Mr. Wayne Forsythe, who will be transitioning out of his role as Dean of Students at the end of this year at MCHS. As you know, these leadership positions are very important roles, and they will be “big shoes to fill.” As we move forward, we are excited to fill all vacancies with equally effective and passionate leaders. Lastly, we will also be recruiting and interviewing to fill classroom vacancies, as several teachers have informed us of their plans to retire at the end of this year, after decades of dedicated service to our schools. We will be honoring retirees in the months ahead for all they have contributed to the schools, the district and the many, many students’ lives they have empowered and enriched. We will then look forward to welcoming new educators who will be joining our MCUSD/MCOE family!
Warm regards,
Jeff Aranguena
